Tybalt Workshop @ The Old Globe

Latest on Tybalt or One of Your Nine Lives

My 90-minute play commissioned by The Old Globe, Tybalt, received a developmental workshop directed by Jesse Perez in September 2023.  In 2025, I completed a set of revisions, and hope the play will have a new life in 2026 and beyond.

​Stuck in a purgatory of cycling Romeo and Juliet performances, Tybalt initiates a telling of his own backstory to explain who he really was and reveal a shocking misunderstanding about his death.  However, a fresh perspective on his failed friendship with Mercutio unexpectedly sparks insight of his own.  Romeo and Juliet will never be seen quite the same again. A love letter born from the playwright’s career of working with Shakespeare in prisons, Tybalt is for Shakespeare nerds, Social Justice warriors, Lovers of Young Adult Fiction, and all humans.
